About the City of Aix en Provence
Aix-en-Provence is a small, classically Provençal, clean city. The majority of the city centre is mostly pedestrian offering plenty of nice walks. As with most Provençal towns, the city of Aix en Provence consists of narrow streets. As a city, Aix en Provence (usually called “Aix”) possesses a wealth of luxury Provence properties which are carefully preserved and restored. The town is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and countryside and boasts a rich heritage of thousands of years and is renowned as the city of art and culture.
The town’s architectural and cultural heritage can be discovered whilst wandering past the abundance of charming fountains. There is a wide range of things to do in Aix en Provence, favourites include walking around the small streets, browsing fashion boutiques and sampling many of the citys restaurants. Most of the restaurants are located in the old city. The bus system is also super efficient and has a number of stops within the city as well as connecting to other nearby villages, towns.
Getting to Aix en Provence
Aix has both a TGV and a regular station and is well connected both to the Paris – Marseille line and to the Genoa – Nice line. By plane Aix is best served by Marseille and Nice, both having car hire and shuttle buses daily.
